I am in the middle of doing an important assignment for school and suddenly I cannot copy and paste by control c, control p or right click into my word document from a saved pdf.
Last week I was able to copy and paste from this pdf to a word document but this week it has stopped working. I can copy from an email to my word clipboard and notepad, and I can copy and paste text that is already in word document.

Many pdf files are simply pictures. They may be pictures of text, but they are not text. When you try to select text in the pdf does the entire document get selected? Thanks for your feedback. If you have a full version of Acrobat not just the reader you can do an OCR scan on it under tools. This converts a picture to text.
If you have a scanner, it may have a similar utility. This site in other languages x.

If you want to copy text from a PDF file to add to a Word document, paste a formula onto an Excel spreadsheet, or insert into PowerPoint slides for a presentation, it can be as easy as using the Copy and Paste function. However, that may not necessarily work for all PDF files owing to security and other permissions, but there are other ways you can fulfill the same task. This may be indicated by a grayed out or dimmed copy feature in Reader. If the PDF you received is protected by a password , use the designated password combination to open it, and then check the security settings to confirm that content copying is allowed. This is the de-facto method of copying text from most documents or files, not just PDFs. The Snapshot tool in your PDF reader helps you select the text you want as a screenshot or graphic, and then paste it onto another document without affecting the formatting.

I seem to be "out of step" concerning your delight in pdf documents, which I find totally user unfriendly. I do a lot of editing, copying and pasting for personal commitments and study purposes.
